Beijing Post 2: On feeling like a celebrity...

Everywhere we went in China we were getting our photo taken. People sometimes stare at foreigners here in Seoul. But I've almost never had an experience where more than one person in a day tries to take my photo on on the sly. China, on the other hand, was a constant bombardment of people taking our photo. we must have been asked at least 2o times in 4 days to take a picture with a group of friends (one group happened to be Korean.. actually.. the rest were Chinese though...). This didn't bother us as much as the folks who would either casually video record us on their cell phones or the ones who would pose in front of us pretending they didn't see us in the background, even though the person taking the photo obviously wasn't pointing the camera towards the person posing. I took this photo of someone taking a photo of us on his cell phone. He wasn't even trying to be subtle about it.
