In this article I happened to spot on the sidebar while I was checking my email introduces Annie Chun's Gochujang. It's an interesting concept, but who knows how it will taste... can someone stateside test it for me and let me know?
The article sez gochujang has a 2000 year history. Only off by a factor of 10 or so, as peppers were introduced here in the 17th century and gochujang has only been around since the late 1700s!
Joanna, The Zenkimchi team reviewed this a couple months ago (http://www.zenkimchi.com/FoodJournal/recipes/fusion/product-review-annie-chuns-gochujang-recipe/) - overall, it seemed a positive review, though not for someone who didn't like spicy.
